We went to the Carymoor Environmental Trust near Castle Cary in Somerset to discuss sculpture ideas for the 100 acre wildlife reserve. On a site of capped landlfill the trust has created a variety of habitats where birds,amphibians, reptiles, butterflies, wild flowers, rare bumblebees flourish. Jack Snipe and Long Eared Owls are among the unusaul birds seen there. Above are Paul and Rachel with in the centre Julia Percy the Education Officer. The sculpture (not by us) is of an ammonite to commemorate the plethora of the fossils in the clay that was used for capping the landfill. Below is one of the inspector wells which are placed every 50 metres to monitor the water quality and the methane situation. See www.carrymoor.org.uk for more about the site.
